Meme that I should NOT have picked up...

...but I was having a goofy evening watching [livejournal.com profile] cordelianne's vid recs* and being immersed in Buffy love, and when the meme popped up from [livejournal.com profile] entrenous88 I couldn't resist. Now I must pay.

Comment and:

1. I’ll respond with something random about you
2. I’ll challenge you to try something
3. I’ll pick a color that I associate with you
4. I’ll tell you something I like about you
5. I’ll tell you my first/clearest memory of you
6. I’ll tell you what animal you remind me of
7. I’ll ask you something I’ve always wanted to ask you
8. If I do this for you, you must post this on yours!

It is now midnight here, however, and I'm going to bed, so don't expect anything immediate. :)

*omg, Ice Ice Baby made me laugh like a complete loon, and Cowboy was hilarious too. Then Counting Bodies took my breath away. Thanks, cordelianne!

It's all about you... it's all about you, baby, yeah! *hums*

1. You either own or would like to own walnut oil.
2. Have you ever made your own sushi?
3. This may sound odd, but the colour that first springs to mind is the lovely translucent green of the water bottle in an icon of yours.
4. You got couth, lady. You host teaparties, drop in all round for visits, offer pie to the homeless and lurking, write some crazyhotporn and toofunnycomedy and heartwrenchingtears, and you do it all with grace, style, and finesse. You're always neatly turned out (I imagine in a teadress or crinoline - again, like in one of your icons), and polite to everyone, and you raise the tenor of fandom. Gosh darn it, ma'am, you're civilized.
5. Huh. I remember starting to recognize your name in comments all over the place, but I think I really registered you when you did a "meta" type post and it was the first time I'd bothered to go to anything but pure fic.
6. *pouts* You're right, these are hard! I think a Golden Retriever. They're friendly, welcoming, intelligent, intensely social, elegant animals - but with a goofy side. They'll throw themselves into anything with enthusiasm. And they like having their tummy scratched.
7. Do you have a favourite person to pair with Xander, and if so, who?

I would like to own walnut oil! I still haven't bought any. There weren't any recs that I could locate for brands, then other shiny recipes came along and distracted me. :D

I have made my own sushi, yis! A friend taught me one night, and we made it together a few times. Always maki (rolled sushi), though, which is plenty of fun itself. We did make some futomaki (making the omelet for that is a fun process) and tried a few different combiantions of vegetables, fish, other elements to create regular rolls, inside-out rolls, hand-held rolls, etc.

Couth, and civilized -- thtat's fine with me! Awww, I wish I had more lufferly tea dress/crinoline dresses. But I will aim for that. *aims*

I have too many favorite people to pair with Xander! *laughs* Well, it depends on mood, the type of story I feel interested in writing, if there's a request/assignment in the case of a 'thon or writing a story for someone. Sometimes my favorite person to pair Xander with is the one I'm pairing him with at the moment; while I'm writing a certain pairing I get very interested in the possibilities and other types of scenarios that could bring them together. Basically when I'm working on something, I focus a great deal of my enthusiasm in that direction.

So I have tons of defying-the-phrase's-meaning OTPs! Too many! Or maybe just enough? :D

Me! Me!!

I'm so glad you've been loving the vids - those are some awesome ones! I haven't seen Ice Ice Baby (I wish I was at home, then I could watch it NOW!). Cowboy is awesome! Oh man, Counting Bodies is incredible, incredible. *g*

1. You've gone curling!
2. Paprika Pringles. If you can't find them in TO, it'll have to wait till you cross the Atlantic. (Consider that another challenge! *g*)
3. Pink. I think because you've used a lot of icons with pink in them. Also 'cos you're so happy and fun.
4. I love the *love* that you bring to this fandom. I love the time and energy you put into everything you do here: comments in particular, but also fic, wacky TV posts, birthday wishes, general bouncing. It's cute and admirable and so much fun to be around.
5. I usually read the comments to stories I've read, and I would keep seeing you round and about (half the time I didn't read the name/icon but would then recognize you from the detailed comment!) - couldn't name the first, but gradually became aware of you as a neat individual. Then you sent me indepth concrit on my poem and I was floored and happy!
6. Raccoon. And before you hit me! *ducks* I like raccoons. They're highly intelligent, social, skilled and fastidious creatures. (And cute. And nocturnal.) There aren't any here and I miss them.
7. Where'd you get the idea to intro all your posts with btvs quotations, and how long does it take to come up with them? They're always so perfect! *g*

[identity profile] cordelianne.livejournal.com 2006-06-28 06:42 am (UTC)(link)
1. Good memory!
2. I will seek them out! I just had a few Spicy Curry chips recently and they were yummy, so I will look for the Paprika Pringles! And visiting the UK (and you!) is a challenge I hope to fulfill! *g*
3. Yay! I heart pink!
4. *blushes lots* Thanks!
5. Ah ha! I recall always being impressed by your comments (I shouldn't be replying until I've done this for you!). And that's an awesome poem!
6. teehee. And I'm definitely nocturnal!!
7. I have major difficulties coming up with titles for things (and thus why my fic often has one word titles!!), so after my first few entries I sort of used a BtVS quote but changed it slightly. And then the first time I actually did use an actual quote it was because it was so perfect for what I was going through. I'd just completed my degree and so I used the Buffy quote from "Faith, Hope and Trick":
"Hello my life, how I've missed you!"
And after that I decided to keep doing that. I can remember a lot of the lines from BtVS & AtS really well from my multiple viewings. I can also sort of hear the character voices in my head saying the lines (but not in a crazy way!). So, I can frequently immediately think of a quote or a line that's applicable for what I'm posting about. However there are times when I don't have one in mind, but I'll have a theme so I'll look for that (that can take a while). Sometimes I'll just randomly use a quote I love. The hardest tends to be when I vaguely recall a line but have no idea who said it or when, or even the exact wordings (like I'll remember the meaning but not what was actually said). For example, just recently I recalled this Anya quote from the first couple of episodes in season 6 about "good news" and searched by that. Well the quote is actually about "happy news". I think I found it by going to transcripts and searching by "news". Um, obsessive? Me? (Man, that was a long-winded answer! *g*)

[identity profile] electricalgwen.livejournal.com 2006-06-28 09:41 am (UTC)(link)
You are nocturnal! You must have posted your other reply about 4 am! :)

That's too funny about the "happy news." I am not that au fait with the actual dialogue because of the long time lapse since I've actually seen any of them. The words themselves, though, are what usually stick with me, from movies or books (books especially) - my SO recalls music, yards of it, note-perfect, and can place it; I can't do that, but I am always (trying to refrain from!) correcting him quoting stuff. :P

Randomness: One of my favourite exchanges ever (and which does get quoted - correctly! - in our household) is Buffy and the de-ratted Amy.

"How've you been?"
"Rat. You?"
"Dead."
"Oh."

Makes me keel over giggling every time. I think I've perfected Amy's facial expression when she says "Oh."
