hypocratical
For the prompt 'doctor' at
open_on_sunday. Because I haven't written anything in way too long.
He came to in a warehouse, with a bra and panty set under his scrubs, and a watch reading eight hours later than it should. Had someone put ketamine in his coffee as a joke?
The next blackout he attributed to stress: the ER was being run off its collective feet dealing with bizarre injuries and a twelve-hundred-percent rise in new onset psychosis.
Gradually, the truth became horrifyingly evident as his other consciousness grew stronger.
Primum non nocere. First, do no harm.
He worked almost every hour he spent as Ben, trying vainly to make up for the others.

Did you make it under the wire to post this to open_on_sunday? I haven't seen a post saying it was closed yet.

I checked and no closed post yet - the rules say midnight EST, so I think I'm ok. :)

Ben was weak in some ways, but I wanted to make him sympathetic here - I imagine the strain/disconnect of being in a healing profession while simultaneously knowing he was responsible for so many wounds must have been awful. Glad that came across.

well done! poor ben, he really didn't ask to be mixed up in all of that. and i really loved the title, it totally played into the whole arc of his character, with its allusion both to the oath and to 'hypocritical,' since at the end he made some questionable choices.

Thank you! I am totally swamped and I haven't written anything in ages except this year's round robin, but it suddenly felt appropriate to open another window behind the 'real' stuff I was working on and just... write this down. Thanks for the comment, it's appreciated!
