Rites of Spring

Flowering trees all over the place, with drifts of pink and white petals swirling around the streets. Lilacs, one of my favourite smells. Days getting amazingly long - Canada is thought of as "the North," but here, I'm significantly further north than I ever was in Canada! Midsummer here should be really fun, we'll have to have some kind of party. Except that my yard is not much bigger than a postage stamp.

Oh, and my lilacs are just about done blooming, as are all of my flowering trees. They were beautiful this year, though. :)

I love Lilacs as well!! When I was growing up we had 3 lilac trees and it made spring my favourite time of year. One was right outside my window.
It is weird that Canada's "the North" when there's places further north than us. My mom has told me about people not believing her that the southern most part of Ontario is on the same latitude as Northern California.
