Nice things about today
Feb. 28th, 2006 09:25 pmRarest thing - a day off!
A stellar poem about the absurdity of war.
Pale sun a sudden, brilliant afternoon surprise. The world felt warmer despite the biting wind.
Wandering twisty downtown streets I have somehow missed in all previous downtown ambles, finding tiny old buildings maintaining a toehold despite being crowded on all sides by glass and steel. "We were here first," they grunt, "we will outlast the Next and the Harvey Nichols, the Starbucks and the HMV."
Gave blood - it was my 50th donation. I got a pin. And a pen. (No pun, though.)
Pancakes tonight and friends came by unexpectedly, stayed, had multiple cups of tea. They are painting their hallway purple!
The fish are happy. I think. They look happy to me. How do you know if fish are happy?
