Drabbles and whatnot
Oct. 8th, 2006 09:21 pmI can't see myself ever writing kidfic (although I should be careful saying things like that, as I keep finding myself writing, or trying to write, various things I said I would/could never do.) I saw kid!Spike in the park, today, though. Honestly. White-blond buzzcut, sharp face, red shirt, black pants. Aged about 6 or so. Bossing around the other kids on the climbing frame. Had a mouth on him, too.
Finished Terry Pratchett's new book Wintersmith. Fun. Not the first time he's written about the power of stories, the power of myth and the way we shape and define the world inside our own heads - but a nice, new interpretation of it. Also, he introduces a new Feegle: Wee Dangerous Spike. I can't see myself ever writing fairy!Spike either, but if I did, it'd be that one. None of this gauzy-winged stuff. Give me Spike as a Nac mac Feegle: drinking, cow-stealing, fighting at the drop of a hat, and swearing in unrecognizable dialect. He'd fit right in.
Prompt this week at
open_on_sunday is Change, and I wrote three drabbles in a hurry:
Evolution (Buffy, PG-13)
Most Likely (Gunn, PG)
and finally, Change (S/X, PG), because I've made it my mission to write a Spander one every Sunday. Spread the love! *g*
