Omg, I don't think I've run into anybody else who's seen or read Neverwhere, and I live in Britain, lol! (I have lent it to a couple of people, though I'm not sure if one of them watched it.) As regards the BBC staying true? I'm pretty sure that actually, the miniseries came first, and then he wrote the book (having written the scripts). Don't quote me on that, I haven't gone and looked it up recently, but I think I remember that. In any case, I read the book first, and I do think that helped me follow the series; one of the guys I lent it to found it a little confusing.
I enjoyed Mirrormask, but it may have helped that once again I had read the book first. It is quite surreal, but I think it's beautifully done. Kind of Labyrinth for the 21st century. We went to the UK premiere - they played it here for a week, a few months before it was generally released (because it had to have been screened somewhere to be eligible for some award ceremony!) - and there was almost nobody there. Maybe 8 other people - one was wearing a Serenity t-shirt. *g*
I'd be interested in seeing your 2007 reading list! I'm always happy to find new books to read. :)
