That is definitely the direction I was imagining, though I recognized that it wasn't completely clear in the story and I've had others read it a different way. Or rather, that's what I imagine Buffy is thinking, that she can take in Illyria and use that power to save the world rather than having to use Dawn's, and also thereby restore Fred. But the problem is that Buffy is probably wrong about what's possible... I can't see myself writing the continuation in the near future, but who knows?
