So. I have a new obsession. (No, it’s not Kung Fu Panda, though bonus points if you recognized the quote.)
I held out on Supernatural for a long time. We didn’t have cable; I didn’t have time. Also, it was scary. I have never been good with horror and scary stuff. The scarier Buffy episodes were about my limit; I’m still amazed I managed to watch and enjoy Constantine. I had nightmares after Doctor Who’s “Hush”. Yes, friends were moving into the fandom – and I read their fic, meta, and episode reactions, because hey, I was never going to watch it, so spoilers weren’t really an issue.
*facepalm*
Then, this spring, someone lent me seasons 2 and 3 of Buffy (which I’ve actually never seen) and season 1 of Supernatural. And the Attic Denizen and I started watching. Knitting and watching, because every so often it became really important to look down and make sure one wasn’t dropping a stitch or something, and because it was a valid excuse for having the light on. Several lights on.
I’m still surprised we made it through the first few episodes. Either they get less creepy as the story arc starts to become a focus, or one adapts. Anyway, I’m completely hooked and now own seasons 1-3 on DVD (yay for sale at Future Shop!) Dean and Sam occupy far too much of my brain’s processing time, and J2 fic is almost all I’m reading these days (exceptions: you know who you are.) Yeah, I avoided RPF for three years, but… *sigh* I'm going to hell. Eventually I hope to branch out into actual SPN fic but there are (surprisingly!) still a few things I don’t know and I’d like to avoid getting any more spoiled than I already am. Also, I like slash. So it pretty much comes down to RPF or incest. Special Hell, here I come.
Also, it’s the first time I’ve had someone to watch with who’s equally fannish about a show, and doesn’t mind rewinding briefly to rewatch squee-ful bits or catch the tortured looks I missed (because I still knit while watching.) God, these boys give good tortured looks! OH DEAN. OH SAM. OH BOYS.
Tonight, as soon as the Denizen gets home from work, we’re going to break out the knitting and watch All Hell Breaks Loose.
