I'm (somewhat unexpectedly) going to be in Chicago for a couple of days. I won't have very much time on my own, but anybody got any suggestions for things I should try my best to see/do?
The Chicago Cultural Center's Tiffany stained glass domes and mosaics are breathtaking. The Art Institute has a fantastic collection. There's a ton of public art, and one of my favorites is Calder's Flamingo at Federal Center Plaza. We did one of The Chicago Architecture Foundation's boat tours and it was fun and informative. Frank Lloyd Wright's Robie House was interesting, but the exterior was under a massive renovation when we were there three years ago. It's probably complete by now, though.
We're always in town for a Cubs game and just love Wrigley Field and walking around Wrigleyville. It's a really vibrant, fun place to visit. We've liked the beer at Goose Island Brewing by Wrigley.
Oh wow, thank you so much! I have very little time outside the scheduled stuff I'm going for but I'll do my best to at least swing by a couple of these. :D
Thanks! Unfortunately I didn't get there (walked past late at night) but I did have a very quick visit to the Loyola University Museum of Art, which had a super exhibit on. There's always next time! :)
