X-Men III: The Last Stand is very very good. Fast pace, good drama, fun times, amazing effects. Including one that is so nicked from BtVS!!

Jean as the Phantom - can we say scary veiny Willow? And how's that with Wolverine fighting his way towards her, talking her down, and saying "I love you", on the verge of the end of the world?? Diverges slightly at the end, though - at least Xander didn't have to kill Willow. I'm slightly concerned, now, that I scored as Jean Grey in the "Which X-Man Are You?" quiz. :P

There were lots of other tropes and references - I can't recall them all now (it's late, I've been at work again) but the null-mutant is basically Piers Anthony's Dor, with his null-magic talent. And hmm, wonder where Patrick Stewart got the idea for the holodeck simulation... :)

The bunch of new folks were cool. The reaction of the government is totally believable and totally chilling. Kelsey Grammer does a super job as the diplomatic Beast. The part of the movie that kicked me in the gut most, though, was the scene in the prologue where a young Archangel has cut off his wings to try and hide his mutancy from his dad. The look on that child's face...!

The fight scene between Pyro and Iceman is fun, and Shadowcat is used well. Ian McKellen is a fantastic actor and I love what he does with Magneto's complexities.

I like what Wolverine says to Rogue. I like that she made her choice anyway. I don't think I would have made the same choice, but I can't know.

I was delighted by many other things in this movie that I can't recall right now, but suffice to say it was much fun and I will be seeing it again! which I never do, so that's high praise.
