My bigbang posting day is under two weeks away! I still have some expansion stuff to write and yet more editing, but I'm not too panicked yet. It's been really exciting seeing the artwork [livejournal.com profile] apieceofcake is creating!

Like many stories, mine shifts between different character POVs in different sections. There will be dividers between the sections (not just the usual 4 line blank spacing, thanks to my lovely artist!) I am undecided as to whether it is a good idea or not to identify the person in whose POV the section is written. Sometimes I like that, the cute little nametag dividers. Other times I think, meh, it's not like I couldn't figure it out, at least if the writing's any good.

So I was waffling on that and suddenly realized I haven't posted a poll in ages.

I'm on the fence when it comes to POV dividers. Most of the time, it works just fine but sometimes, it just doesn't. I'm not sure if I could define why; maybe it boils down to the strength of the story itself.

I don't know that I've ever felt they really didn't work. I do think they should be unnecessary (i.e., if you have to tell me which character's POV this is, then you probably haven't done a good job of characterization). But I keep seeing them, and wondered if maybe people expect them.

There's one story in particular, I think maybe by mournthewicked? that had lovely and memorable name dividers, hand-writing-style on lined paper. I liked them; it added to the feel of the high-school AU.
